According to a recent benchmarking study covering five European regions within the FP7 TERM project, current innovation supports seem to be poorly adapted to bring forth therapies based on these new technologies, due to, at least in part, their high regional fragmentation.  Few innovative projects in the field of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (TERM) are supported today.
