ABOUT VINNOVA

VINNOVA (The Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems) is a State authority that aims to promote growth and prosperity throughout Sweden. Our particular area of responsibility comprises innovations linked to research and development. Our tasks are to fund the needs-driven research required by a competitive business and industrial sector and a flourishing society, and to strengthen the networks that are such a necessary part of this work. VINNOVA's efforts to create effective innovation systems have international, national, sectoral and regional perspectives. VINNOVA also participates in a number of ERA-Nets. VINNOVA’s prioritised growth areas extend across boundaries break down the traditional divisions between industrial sectors and areas of society.

Other key areas of VINNOVA are:

  • The Competence Centres’ Programme, a long-term effort to strengthen the link between academic research groups and industrial R&D.
  • The VINN Centres of Excellence, the new generation of competence centres.
  • Knowledge Platforms, with the aim of developing knowledge which will support growth areas.
